This is a critical time for the explosives safety community.  The military’s evolving mission in the War on Terror, coupled with the ongoing efforts in the areas of explosives safety practices, insensitive munitions development, chemical weapons disposal, military munitions demilitarization, hazard classification and risk analysis, are some of the issues we face today.  The DDESB operationalizes explosives safety by proactively engaging and integrating explosives safety tenets, risk identification and mitigation into every facet of the munitions lifecycle.

For 80 years, the DDESB has led the way in the development, implementation, execution, and oversight of the DoD Explosives Safety Management Program (ESMP), which has played a vital role in enhanced asset and force protection, and ensured the preservation of the Department’s war fighting capabilities.  In the future, increased joint-operability and greater interagency coordination will allow us to realize even greater gains and achieve the highest levels of explosives safety.

The 2008 DDESB Seminar will present the latest research, development findings, and lessons and provide vital networking opportunities.  Whether you are military, a government civilian, or contract personnel and work with explosives safety, you cannot afford to miss this opportunity to interact with the leading authorities in the explosive safety community.  Members of the explosives safety community eagerly anticipate the DDESB Seminar because it serves as the laboratory of new ideas in the explosives safety community.
